      Hi Mc13060!

My favourite experiment is to get two small groups of bacteria and treat one of them with honey… I then put them under the microscope and using fluorescent dyes I can see the honey treated bacteria exploding and leaking out their “guts” out!!! That is pretty sick! The untreated bacteria are nice and happy and swim about which is nice to see!

Hope that answers your question! 🙂 Don’t forget to vote 🙂

      Hi mc13060,

Great question – I dont actually do experiments in the traditional sense, I go and interview people 🙂 my favourite thing to do with my research is to speak to the same people over several years to really see how they interact with technology over time and find out what preferences change and so on – so that is my kind of favourite experiment!

I quite like simple experiments that are cheap and easy to do, but still give you good answers. My own experimental animals are caterpillars that defend themselves by puking up toxins when you poke them (or when a predator tries to eat them). Because these caterpillars are wild in the UK the experiments are almost free and you can easily make them puke. This means you can ask all sorts of questions with them such as do caterpillars defend themselves less in a group because they let others do the puking? Or do parasites change the way a caterpillar defends itself? I am thinking of other experimental animals at the moment (other than caterpillars) for some other questions, but I still like to keep things simple if possible.

I like doing experiments with fluorescent dyes, so when I put the cells under my microscope I can take pictures of them lit up in different colours. I also like doing experiments on people, where I get to make them run on treadmills and take blood from them.
