Maths is really important for science. Science is just a special way to ask questions (and get good answers), but in order to do this we usually have to take measurements in the form of numbers (which we call data). We then analyse these data using statistics (which is a form of maths) to answer our questions. So as scientists we need maths to let us do science.

But different scientists working on different things use more or less maths than others. I tend to use quite a lot but others need to use only basic statistics and some areas of study don’t use much at all. Even many biologists, where maths/statistics is very important, aren’t fantastically good at maths, but they do know enough to do their own studies.
