      Hi Awesomeufo!

It is what is says on the tin! It is a device that accelerates particles! and it does this using electromagnetic fields (magets) which charge the particles to high speeds! The large hadron collider is a massive particle accelerator and is used to smash particles into each other at super high speeds! Basically we get them whizzing round a massive circle of magnets (which span over different countries it is that big!) in different directions and the put them in the path of each other and watch them smash into each other! We can look at the “crash” and see what happens!

Hope that helps you! 🙂 Don’t forget to vote!

If you want more information look at the Large Hadron Collider! it is awesome!

      Hi awesomeufu,

Great question! I can honestly say that I had no idea what a particle accelerator was – but Aled has enlightened me 🙂 Thanks for the question (and answer!),

      Fiona 🙂
