      Hi issymaple,

I really am not sure if there is human life in any other galaxies, but I like to think that there are other forms of life out there wondering the same thing!

Ultimately, it is a very unknown topic – some scientists say that if human life on Earth evolved, there is the possibility that some form of life has evolved elsewhere as well. I definitely agree that there is the possibility of life elsewhere, but I am in no way certain of it!

      Hope that answers your question,

      – Fiona

I don’t think there is ‘human’ life in other galaxies, because humans are the result of a long and slightly chaotic process that is unlikely to be repeated exactly the same elsewhere. And even if it were, we wouldn’t call them ‘humans’ because they have evolved separately, so they are not part of our evolutionary group.

But I do think that life (and possible intelligent life) has probably evolved in other galaxies. There are a lot of planets in the universe and large numbers of them may well be capable of having life. I think it is probably quite unlikely that life have only arisen once in the universe.

I agree with Fiona and Kevin. I don’t think there will be humans on any other planets in any other galaxies unless there is a planet with exactly the same environment as ours and even then I think evolution would probably follow a different path. But I do think that somewhere in the infinite amount of galaxies and planets there would be at least one with another sort of intelligent life.

I agree with the others – it is our history that defines us as “human”, and a species evolving elsewhere is, by definition, something else! (That, and it would be very surprising if it actually looked even a bit like us!)
