      Hi hocks33,

I do think it is nice to be a scientist! Like anyone, I sometimes get caught up in my work and don’t always have free time – especially if I have a deadline! I do try to make sure I have time off to enjoy the world though. One of my favourite activities is going hillwalking, so I often spend my weekends doing that! I always think it is important to have some free time – it helps energise you when you are at work.

      Thanks for the question,

      Fiona

It is great to be a scientist but it is also important to make some free time for yourself. One benefit of being a scientist is that you can often be quite flexible in your working hours, so to some extent you can fit your work around your life.

      Hi hocks33!

The best thing about my job is how flexible it is… Some people in my office work 9-5 whereas I’m an early bird and will do 7-3 allowing me to have the entire afternoon off which I love! Most of the time though I don’t finish at 3 but thats the joy! It is very flexible! However sometimes when I grow bacteria I need to go and see them at some odd times of the day! sometimes during the night!

      Hope that helps! 🙂

      Hi hocks33,
I think being a scientist is definitely nice. As some of the others have said, being a scientist usually means work hours are pretty flexible which is great. I often stay late as I’m a night owl, but I can often get afternoons free during the week. It all depends on when my cells and students need me!
