• Question: what are atoms made of?

      Protons, neutrons, and electrons. Protons and neutrons are heavy, and clump together in the core. Electrons are much smaller, and are spread out in layers around the core. Protons and electrons are electrically charged: protons are +1 and electrons are -1. Neutrons are zero, not electrically charged.

      Hi mandeep101!

      To add to willem, we can go deeper with sub-atomic particles!

      Protons are made of gauge bosons (i think!)
      Electrons are made of different leptons!
      Neutrons are made of quarks!

      I’m not sure what any of these really are (and I’m not sure some scientists fully research this work know either!) but we know they exist!
