      This is a very tough question! Are you prepared for this answer?

      Anti-matter is matter going *back in time*!

      At least, that’s one way of making the maths work! An anti-particle is the same as a “normal” particle, but with all the special sub-atomic properties reversed: so an electron has charge -1, and a positron has charge +1.

      (Since in maths, all these properties depend on time, if you reverse “time” in your equations, you reverse all the properties.)

      So I don’t know if it’s *actually* true that anti-matter is going back in time. But it’s a cool and simple answer, and it’s “close enough”, so I’ll stick with it 😉
