• Question: Why honey, whats in it that could potentially kill these superbugs?

      Hey gracec2001!

      That is an excellent question! In manuka honey there are different chemicals to normal honey, which make this type of honey very antibacterial! The annoying thing is… 600 different chemicals have been found in honey and any one of these could be antibacterial! even more so… two of them could be more potent when put together!

      The sugar also provides some antibacterial effects (although it is more the lack of water that causes this effect as bacteria need water to survive and the sugars reduce the water!). The acidity of the honey also makes it antibacterial!
